Academics

  • A levels
  • GCSEs

A levels. Two-year courses taken in the sixth form, usually in three or four subjects. UK and international universities make offers on predicted and final A level grades.

GCSEs. Taken at the end of Year 11, usually at age 16, across a broad range of subjects.

Rochester offers GCSEs, A levels and BTECs, plus intensive one-year GCSE and A level courses and retake programmes. Direct entry into any year group is possible.

Boarding and pastoral care

Rochester Independent College takes both boarding and day students. Boarders live in school houses during term with resident staff, and day students go home at the end of the school day.

Day students join from age 11 and boarders from 13. Boarding is mainly in single rooms on the college's campus of restored Georgian houses.

Fees and entry

Fees

There is no extra charge for additional A levels, English tuition, practical subjects, or for staying on campus over half terms and Easter.

Separate fee schedules are published for UK, EU and EEA students and for international students.

Entry requirements

Rochester is not academically selective. International students need IELTS 5.0 for GCSE and 5.5 for A level.

How we help

From first question to first day

Our advisers work with the family from the first question to the first day of term.

  1. Tell us about the student

Age, current school year, subjects and the kind of school you have in mind.

  2. Get a shortlist

We suggest schools that suit the student's level, budget and preferred part of the UK.

  3. Apply and sit entry tests

We prepare the application with you and help with the school's tests and interviews.

  4. Visa and guardianship

Students under 18 need the right visa and, at most boarding schools, a UK guardian. We guide you through both.
