Quantity Surveying Family (Extended Degree) is taught at a number of UK universities, and the entry terms are set department by department rather than nationally. It is a three year undergraduate degree, with the specialism widening as you move through the years.
Teaching in Building covers measurement, cost and contract law alongside the technical modules.
The lowest English requirement we hold on this course is IELTS 6.0, and departments asking more than that usually expect a stronger academic record too. Tuition ranges from £19,850 to £21,500 a year depending on the department, which is a real difference over the length of the course.
Applications open around a year ahead of the intake. Getting the documents together early is what keeps the September date realistic.
This is a regulated, professionally chartered sector, and the degree is usually the first of three stages rather than the whole qualification. Almost every employer expects a placement or a year in practice before or during the course.
Chartership with the RICS, RIBA, RTPI or CIOB, depending on the discipline, and each runs a structured period of practice after graduation.
