Reading
This page covers Modern Languages and English Language across the departments we work with, including what each asks for and what it charges. It is a three year undergraduate degree, with the specialism widening as you move through the years.
Teaching in English Language lets you specialise in a period, an author or a region in the later stages.
The lowest English requirement we hold on this course is IELTS 6.5, and departments asking more than that usually expect a stronger academic record too. Tuition ranges from £25,850 to £30,650 a year depending on the department, which is a real difference over the length of the course.
If you are comparing this against two or three other courses, send us all of them. We will set the entry terms and the fees side by side.
The scientific study of English rather than its literature, and it leads well into teaching, publishing, speech technology and communications. Employers read it for analytical and written precision.
CELTA for language teaching, a PGCE for schools, or a master's in applied linguistics.
