Midwifery Practice is taught at a number of UK universities, and the entry terms are set department by department rather than nationally. It is a three year undergraduate degree, with the specialism widening as you move through the years.
Teaching in Midwifery combines taught modules with placement or laboratory time, and the placement element is what varies most between departments.
The lowest English requirement we hold on this course is IELTS 6.0, and departments asking more than that usually expect a stronger academic record too. Tuition ranges from £17,500 to £24,000 a year depending on the department, which is a real difference over the length of the course.
Applications open around a year ahead of the intake. Getting the documents together early is what keeps the September date realistic.
An approved course leads to NMC registration as a midwife, and the profession is in demand across the country. Placement hours are a substantial part of the course and are non-negotiable.
NMC registration on qualifying, then preceptorship and specialist practice in areas such as bereavement or diabetes care.
