Overview
International Environmental Law is offered widely in the UK, so the useful comparison is between departments rather than between countries. It is a one year postgraduate programme, so the pace is quick and the dissertation carries real weight.
Teaching in Law is offered as a qualifying degree at most universities, which is the route that counts if you plan to practise in England or Wales.
Applications open around a year ahead of the intake. Getting the documents together early is what keeps the September date realistic.
Careers opportunities
A qualifying law degree covers the academic stage only. To practise in England and Wales you then take the SQE and complete two years of qualifying work experience, and training contracts are competitive and applied for years ahead. Many graduates never qualify and use the degree in compliance, policy and business.
