Equine Performance and Welfare is offered widely in the UK, so the useful comparison is between departments rather than between countries. It is a three year undergraduate degree, with the specialism widening as you move through the years.
Teaching in Animal Science covers policy and regulation alongside the science, because most graduate roles sit where the two meet.
If you are comparing this against two or three other courses, send us all of them. We will set the entry terms and the fees side by side.
This is not a route to veterinary practice, and it is worth being clear about that before applying. What it does lead to is nutrition, welfare, breeding and the science side of livestock and companion animal industries.
Registration with the Royal Society of Biology, or a research degree if the work is heading toward nutrition or genetics research.
