This page covers Environmental Science (Extended Degree) across the departments we work with, including what each asks for and what it charges. It is a three year undergraduate degree, with the specialism widening as you move through the years.
Teaching in Environmental Sciences includes survey and data skills that carry directly into consultancy work.
The lowest English requirement we hold on this course is IELTS 6.0, and departments asking more than that usually expect a stronger academic record too. Tuition ranges from £19,850 to £21,500 a year depending on the department, which is a real difference over the length of the course.
Applications open around a year ahead of the intake. Getting the documents together early is what keeps the September date realistic.
Most of this sector's work sits with land managers, consultancies and regulators rather than with laboratories, and a great deal of it is field based. Employers weigh a placement year or a season of practical work as heavily as the degree classification.
Chartered status through the Institution of Environmental Sciences or a licence to practise from a sector body is the usual next step, and both count a year of logged practice.
