English and Theatre Studies is taught at a number of UK universities, and the entry terms are set department by department rather than nationally. It is a three year undergraduate degree, with the specialism widening as you move through the years.
Teaching in Drama runs regular critique sessions where you present and defend your work in front of the group.
Tuition ranges from £27,870 to £35,530 a year depending on the department, which is a real difference over the length of the course.
Applications open around a year ahead of the intake. Getting the documents together early is what keeps the September date realistic.
Hiring in this field is decided on a portfolio rather than on a transcript, and the degree's job is to build one. A large share of graduates work freelance or on contract for the first few years, often alongside a studio job.
There is no register to join. What replaces it is a body of work, and most graduates spend the first two years building it in paid assisting roles.
