Why Camp Samiad

Samiad brings English learning into the whole summer experience: a conversation over breakfast, a team challenge on the sports field and a day exploring Britain. Based at British boarding schools, its programmes combine structured study with the freedom to pursue sporting and creative interests. For children and teenagers who want to become more comfortable using English while enjoying an active holiday, this is a lively introduction to living and learning in an international community.

  • 15 hours of English each week on English programmes
  • Classes grouped by ability, with up to 15 students
  • Campus-specific sports and creative specialisms
  • Boarding-school life with an international community

Where students stay

Each school gives the summer a different character. Trent College provides a Nottinghamshire setting, RGS Surrey Hills offers a countryside campus, and The Oratory places students in Oxfordshire. Bromsgrove, Marlborough and The Leys add further school environments to explore. Accommodation, facilities and specialisms are tied to the chosen campus, making the location an important part of the programme choice.

A summer school for every age

English courses welcome learners from beginner to advanced level, combining language practice with age-appropriate teaching. Lessons develop speaking, listening, reading and writing, with feedback to help students recognise their progress. The younger Camp Samiad and teenage Summer School pathways provide different starting points; the selected campus determines which academic courses and afternoon specialisms can be combined.

What a typical day looks like

A teaching day moves from morning study into afternoon activities, followed by dinner and an evening programme. This rhythm gives students regular opportunities to use new vocabulary with classmates outside lessons. Excursion days change the pace, while shared meals and organised social activities help friendships develop across nationalities.

Trips and excursions

Excursions introduce students to a different side of Britain, from the landmarks of London to the history of Warwick Castle and the rides at Alton Towers. Some itineraries also include an overnight experience. The destinations and overnight arrangements depend on the campus, dates and length of stay.

London
A full-day visit to central London taking in the city's landmarks on foot and by underground.
Oxford
A guided walk through the university city with free time to explore its colleges and shops.
Warwick Castle555 Overnight stay
A two-day trip that includes an evening at the castle grounds and an overnight stay before returning to campus the next day.

Subjects and activities

The multi-activity route offers variety, while specialist options give students more time with a particular interest. Published choices include football, horse riding, tennis, golf, robotics and art. These are campus-specific programmes rather than activities available everywhere; choosing a specialism helps shape the afternoon experience around what the student most enjoys.

Pastoral care

Before arrival, families receive practical information and campus contact details. Boarding arrangements take age and gender into account, and parent liaison support provides a point of contact during the stay. Sharing daily routines with other students gives children a supported introduction to being away from home, alongside the structure of lessons, meals and organised activities.
