Overview

Fire Safety Engineering is taught at a number of UK universities, and the entry terms are set department by department rather than nationally. It is a one year foundation course, the year before an undergraduate degree begins.

Teaching in Engineering splits the week between lectures, laboratory work and design sessions, and ends in an individual or group project.

The lowest English requirement we hold on this course is IELTS 6.0, and departments asking more than that usually expect a stronger academic record too. Tuition is £9,500 a year.

Applications open around a year ahead of the intake. Getting the documents together early is what keeps the September date realistic.

Accreditation is the thing to check before anything else on an engineering course, because it decides whether the degree counts toward chartered status later. A three year bachelor's meets part of the academic requirement; the integrated master's meets all of it.
