About
Why Winchester College
Winchester College Summer Programme invites students to question ideas, explain their thinking and approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity. Taught by Winchester teachers, its academic courses bring discussion, practical challenges and collaborative projects into a historic boarding-school setting. This is an experience for learners who enjoy asking why and want to become more confident in developing and communicating a point of view.

Where students stay
The programme takes place at Winchester College in Hampshire. Boarding accommodation and common spaces create a base for the residential community, while meals in College dining halls connect students with the setting. Programmes
A summer school for every age
CATALYST Foundations, for ages 10-13, develops curiosity through experiments, discussion and creative challenges. CATALYST Horizons, for ages 14-17, explores connections between subjects such as science, philosophy, artificial intelligence and economics. English Language Coaching offers a separate route for students developing fluency and communication through age- and level-appropriate learning.
Daily life
What a typical day looks like
Academic sessions encourage students to contribute, question assumptions and consider other perspectives. On Horizons, work builds towards a Capstone project in which participants investigate a real-world challenge and present their thinking. Afternoon activities and time with the residential community provide a different pace after concentrated study.
Beyond the campus
Trips and excursions
Full-day excursions take the experience beyond Winchester. Published examples include London, Oxford and Thorpe Park, offering a mix of city discovery, cultural interest and recreation. The session itinerary determines the actual visits, providing shared experiences that complement life and learning on campus.

Subjects and activities
Outside academic sessions, students can explore sporting and creative interests. Published choices include swimming, tennis, badminton, basketball and yoga, alongside art, drama, music and jewellery-making. A rotating afternoon selection creates opportunities to try a new activity and meet students beyond the teaching group.

Pastoral care
A dedicated welfare team is available on site around the clock. Teaching staff and the boarding team work together to support students, with safeguarding training and staff vetting forming part of the programme arrangements. Supervised activities and excursions give the stay structure while students practise greater independence away from home.
